Happy rank kaukana.be
This morning, while writing on another post, I noticed that Alexa updated my rank to 2,9 millionth something. Well, that’s a milestone, two months ago I was in the range of 5 millionth.. Something improved somewhere.
Or not?
How Alexa works is a matter of guesswork and ranks are dependent on people installing Alexa Toolbar in their browser; I might have attracted more Web-savvy visitors with the latest posts or I might be witness of the increase in adoption of of Alexa in Europe.
So, how much does it translate this 2.9millionth rank? My own stats say that, since September, I had 2.731 visits and that the monthly average of unique visitors is 1.4 visits/uniques. Way to go to catch up with Robert Scoble or Dave Winer but I am growing at double digit rate
Would this be enough to qualify me to be included in the relevant part of the Internet’s 80-20 rule? I don’t think it would. I feel Alexa’s ranks are not that useful if you are not a general public website attracting millions.
So this post is to say that I will care the day Alexa says I am in the first 100.000 and that I have to go back to the post I left undone if I want to get in that dammed 100K list!!
